Exploratory is a class that meets during the time blocked off for band, choir, and orchestra. We want this time to be interesting for the classmates, while also being academic. Four the first four week we did science experiments while using the scientific method and writing reflections. The first few pictures are a science experiment using coffee filters and a black washable marker. The students discovered all the colors of the rainbow when they made a simple black line on their filter and put the edge in a container of water.
The second two weeks focused on designing the best paper airplane! With partners, the students researched and designed their own paper airplane. After the first practice flight, the students then went back and revised their design using what they learned from their practice flight. It was a great activity where the students worked cooperatively throughout the entire experiment.
